By Fiona Mccarthy. I bought these Chanel shoes years ago at a sample sale – I couldn’t have afforded them full price. They have been all over the world with me. I have a collection of parrots, which is partly because of the Polly thing, but also because I’ve always liked birds. I found this vintage one on Ebay. This photo of my grandma muriel and alice was taken last year at my grandfather’s funeral.

Mixed reviews on maternity fashions out there. The target markets seem to either be middle-aged pregnant women with no interest in current trends, or teenage mums.
Posts about single mum written by loneyummymummy. In amongst that, I am trying to date! So this year, I kept myself out of the world of blogging as I feared I was being judged but I kept a little diary to help me process my feelings whilst I.

Earlier this year, an icon of youthful abandon — bubbly, blond, a perpetual adolescent — left the grove of girlhood and gave birth to a baby boy. No, not Britney Spears. The puckish heroine Bridget Jones, whose fictional diary of the urban dating life was a best-seller a decade ago, and whose recent journey to the delivery room has been serialized in The Independent in Britain. Now that even an avatar of youth has reached this milestone of adulthood, it raises the question whether chick lit, the genre that Bridget’s creator, Helen Fielding, all but invented, will finally grow up.
The answer appears to be yes. In , new books by a host of writers associated with chick lit — Laura Zigman, Jane Green, Emily Giffin and Sue Margolis, among others — featured heroines with babies, former something singles who had settled down with Mr. Right and swapped their stilettos for Bugaboo strollers. Although many female authors aren’t happy about it, the term “mom lit” is used in book reviews and on blogs to describe fiction in which the experience of motherhood, perceived with something of the same rueful spirit with which Bridget and her sisters regarded men, is the central drama.
Stacy Creamer, the editor of The Devil Wears Prada, a chick-lit milestone, and of the forthcoming Momzillas, says that, based on submissions she receives, there’s “a huge rise in the amount of books by stay-at-home moms writing fiction and nonfiction about that experience. Women have always written about motherhood, of course.
Mummy Diaries Series 4: Billie and Sam Faiers confirm start date with new trailer
A book born of a blog cuts to the chase of how women really cope with the whole business of motherhood. Other first-time mothers, who struggle to find the time and energy to have a shower, never mind a pedicure, wonder where they are going wrong. Is theirs the only baby whose impromptu vomiting, crying or pooing thwarts attempts to get anywhere on time and then, more often than not, brings an outing to a premature end?
After all, mothers are more likely to be concerned with stretching the household budget to nappies rather than splashing out on a designer changing bag. But no, the concept is alive and well — in the media at least.
Wow, yep, there’s a new show called Yummy Mummies and it’s as ridiculous as the barrel just get deeper, or are you marking the premiere date in your diary?
Little Miss George started in Reception just over a week ago. Already she has brought home two reading books without any words in them; a sponsor form to raise money for the school; 3 separate newsletters with dates for parent evenings, school photo sessions, coffee mornings and encouraging suggestions that I attend the annual general meeting of the “mums and dads” committee; and lots of tales of playing with lots of Lego.
If she was my elder daughter I would be wondering what on earth the school was playing at and would be feeling completely overwhelmed by the sheer volume of information. If she was our first, I would have diligently attending the welcome meeting for new parents last week in order to be told exactly how important it was to read the reading books “the same night” and return the next day to ensure that the book was available for the next child.
I would be feeling under pressure to attend every meeting, and already panicking about the potential risk of forgetting to dress my daughter in appropriate “dress-up” gear on various fancy dress days to come. I would be scanning every letter and marking in my diary every single event, without having a clue which pieces of information were more important than others. This year I am much more relaxed. Here’s my list of top tips that will help you work out what information is important, what to prioritise and what to just ignore.
I hope it helps. And as for all the other ‘fundraising’ events, school fairs, discos and so forth.

So I have my lists from the RugRats for Christmas…. No1 is happy with her 4 things on her list….. So regrettably I have ordered them from some ridiculous waiting list and hope to god not that I am a religious person…. I can feel my anxiety levels rising minute by minute and I know it will all end soon, but on top of the Christmas shizzle, I have all the day-to-day shizzle to sort and that has its own anxiety levels attached…so I am on double whammy, about to run and hide under my bed with Moz the monster, anxious……I think you can get the picture now.
But hang on….. I made the huge mistake of going through the RugRats school bags……the thousands of letters from the different schools PTAs about the various christmas events going on to the run up to Christmas Holidays for them and a letter has just landed on the mat to say I am due an MOT and service……do I:. Well that gives you a flavour of a few options that have gone through my mind, but what is blindingly obvious is that I have to get my shit together and face it head on, but why do we put ourselves under so much pressure at Christmas, or any other day for that matter?!
I have a slight girl crush on Sharon Hogan and when I learnt that her pilot was turned into a series, I waited with excitement. Even the boyfriend got involved as he is a big fan of Father Ted and Sharon Hogan co wrote the script with Holly Walsh. Needless to say, we sniggered and could not stop watching it back to back. So it stirs up those old feelings from not being in the cool gang at school or with the cool workmates that hang out without you, it makes you connect with the misfits and you cheer them on for standing up to the cool gang.
So my last post was New Years Eve and we are fast approaching the end of November. I have blinked and nearly a whole year has passed me by!
